Generic Domain names
are words, or a word, that can not normally be trademarked in its own right
Those names are usually services and products
for example, property.co.uk is a generic domain.
Many businesses that have decided on a generic domain name for their company name have experienced a faster rate of growth than others.
As well as the internet traffic benefits, owning a good generic name can create previously unconsidered opportunities such as respect in the market place and confidence in your product.

Trademarked names
are names that are company names, branded names and trademarks that are owned by companies or individuals. Domain names such as these don't have a value to anyone other than the holder of the trademark.
If a third party owns a trademarked domain name that does not belong to them, then this is frowned upon and usually illegal - commonly known as cybersquatting. It is unwise to purchase these names.
